Périgord slate is a traditional flat stone used to cover the roofs of old houses in the Dordogne region. Carefully cut and laid in thick layers, it offers excellent resistance to the elements while adding authentic charm to buildings. Emblematic of the rural heritage of the Périgord, it gives villages a unique and warm character.
In the morning

Saint-Geniès, halfway between Sarlat and Montignac-Lascaux, has incredible charm. With its ochre stone houses and traditional slate roofs, it will captivate you as you stroll through the heart of the village.
The ideal route is to follow the village loop : in 3km, it takes you on a journey of discovery through the wonders of the village.

Feeling peckish? The merchants of Salignac-Eyvigues and the market vendors (Tuesday mornings) will be happy to serve you. The village restaurant also offers a nice menu and a very pleasant terrace!
Before hitting the road again, take the time to stroll through the narrow streets to discover the wash house, the market hall, and the noble houses, and let your steps guide you to the Salignac Castle.

Continue your day with an intimate and moving visit to the Château de Lacypierre in Saint-Crépin-et-Carlucet. The history of the Benié de Lacypierre is fascinating.
and will touch your heart. As a grand finale, you can end the day at the Eyrignac Gardens bathed in the soft light of the setting sun.
